Shildon Station 1950s

As kids we caught the train here for the Club Trips organised by Old Shildon Workingman’s Club. We were given half a crown spending money on the footbridge, We went to Redcar regularly or Whitley Bay. Sometimes there was a mystery day out but us kids weren’t fooled for long. If we stood on the right platform we were going to Redcar, and if we stood on the left platform then Whitley Bay was our destination.
